All special breaks include full welsh breakfast. For children wishing to stay in their own room, we would recommend you phone reservations to make sure we can accommodate all your families requirements.

“Your family rooms are fantastic, spacious, fresh and well equipment not to mention perfectly clean. The pool is also great , my children enjoy swimming and to be honest it’s sometimes a lot of effort but with the heated floor and individual showers it’s a breeze! Visit Red Kite Feeding Centre near Rhayader, or cycle the Elan Valley cycle trail, bikes can be hired from Elan Visitor Centre. If the weather is really abysmal visit National Cycle Museum just 100 yards away.

Hotel Fun

During school holidays, we will always try to set up a games room with table tennis, table football and board games. Check with our Reception Team for details. Also our spa has an indoor 18 metre pool with same depth 1.2 metre and is open 7:00am to 6:30pm to children under the age of 16 years.

See the Dragon of the Lake

During your stay ask our reception team for any spare bread we can provide for you to feed the various wild birds at the lake and see the fabulous water beast sculpture, a 5 minute walk from The Metropole Hotel.

Child Menu

Available in both our Radnor Miles Restaurant and Spencer’s Brasserie, tasty with our delicious burgers and healthy salad options. Our Metropole Special is a dessert favourite.

Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre

A wonderful collection of miniature, rare and friendly creatures. Use the cafe or picnic in a wonderful wooly and feathery friendly atmosphere. Open February to November, check their website for dates.

Zip-a-dee doo-dah

On the way to the lake children can enjoy the local play park, an array of slides, swings, roundabouts, climbing frames and sail through the air on a chunky tyre zip-wire! For the energetic wheelie acrobats in the family there is a half pipe too.
